Single-modality endocrine therapy versus radiotherapy after breast-conserving surgery in women aged 70 years and older with luminal A-like early breast cancer (EUROPA): a preplanned interim analysis of a phase 3, non-inferiority, randomised trial
乳房部分切除後にホルモン vs. 照射で、今回は中間解析でQOL (EORTC Q30)を用い、治療開始後2年では照射群がホルモン群より保たれていた、という論文です。
全体にホルモン群のQOL低下が認められ、なかでも認知機能低下も同様でした。
高齢者の乳房部分切除後の早期乳がんでは、ホルモン治療をやっておけば照射は省略できる、というのが今までの流れですが、それに一石を投じるかもしれません。
すなわちホルモン治療の方がQOLを低下させるので、どちらかならホルモン治療を省略、という方向性の検討です。
ただし今回の解析では予後に関する結果は全くありませんし、中間解析で登録の一部ですので、標準治療は変わりません。
